A mega project of digitise Honorable Atal Bihari Vajpayeeji’s Literature and Speeches The Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) launched its mega project “Samagra Ataljee” on Wednesday to digitalise former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s speeches, articles and interviews. The RMP will oversee the project and invited (‘invited’ or ‘invites’?) material related to Vajpayee’s life from the public.
“Ataljee was a source of inspiration for all of us….Nationalism was his inspiration. There was a time when books were the only source of information. Now with the help of IT we can acquaint the young generation with Ataljee’s life through this project,” said Former Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Gadkari on the occasion.
Appreciating the efforts put in by RMP, former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam recounted his experiences with Vajpayee. “He is a global leader, a man beyond party leadership,” said Dr. Kalam, as he formally launched the website www.samagra-ataljee.org as part of the project.
The former President said today’s leaders and youth would benefit the most from the compilation. He also suggested that the proposed work be translated into several languages and an open source website be created in the name of the project to reach out to the masses.
Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani said he misses Vajpayee’s presence at public functions. Recalling his association with Vajpayee, he said they first met in 1948 and worked hard in Delhi to ensure the victory of Bharatiya Jan Sangh candidate in Delhi’s corporation elections in 1953.
Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav shared his experience of listening Ataljee’s speech for the first time. The “Samagra Ataljee” project will be accomplished in two phases: the first one will focus on digitisation of material related to Vajpayee, including recorded speeches, poems and interviews; the second phase will focus on archival of the material collected.
BJP leader Vijay Goel made the first contribution to the project by donating his personal collection of material related to Vajpayee at the launch.
