Nadda said that some people have captured the regional parties as the ideology in these parties has been shunned and families have come to the fore. “In this way regional parties have turned into family parties,” he said.
BJP National President JP Nadda on Thursday attacked the Congress for ‘sidelining objectivity and prioritising subjectivity’. He said the Indian National Congress was neither Indian, nor democratic – it has been reduced to just a ‘Bhai-Behen’ party.
Addressing a national seminar on ‘Threat of Dynastic Political Parties to Democratic Governance’ in Delhi, Nadda said that those that are family-run parties, their only aim is to get power. “They have no ideology. Their programs are also aimless,” he said.
Nadda hit out at some regional parties that are led by families and that there are many – PDP and National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, INLD in Haryana, Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh, RJD in Bihar, TMC (Mamata and Abhishek Banerjee) in West Bengal, and JMM in Jharkhand.
“Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Orissa, YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh, TRS in Telangana, Karunanidhi family in Tamil Nadu, Shiv Sena and NCP in Maharashtra are all family parties. The Congress has also become neither national, nor Indian, nor democratic, it has also become a brother-sister party,” he said.
The BJP chief said that the saffron party is fighting against family-oriented parties in the country. He said these parties run on the principle of ‘My wish, My laws’. “Regional parties have to come to power by any means, so they do not lag behind in polarisation. They do polarization on the basis of caste, or religion. “Issues of national importance are put aside, they do polarisation to grab power,” he said.
