Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini commenced its Vastav Darshan Fellowship Programme in 1996-97, with an objective to inculcate an attitude of research among budding journalists and students with an understanding of social, economic and national issues. Earlier, preference was given to budding journalists and students of journalism/mass media course, however, since 2004-2005, the fellowship programme was broadened and students from all streams and social activists were included in the ambit of this fellowship. RMP has commenced over 30 research projects under this fellowship programme, out of which 16 have been completed entirely. These projects include topics like the role of multinational financial institutions in the capital markets, the problems of bar girls in Mumbai, malnutrition in Melghat, realistic movies, Maharashtra Universities Act: on the verge of a makeover, a review of water management under “Pani Panchayat” and IMDT Act.
Vastav Darshan
This fellowship scheme aims to help young social workers, development activists and budding journalists to develop an interrogative, analytical and academic approach. The objective is to give a sound research orientation to young individuals who wish to contribute through voluntary social causes. The idea is to help Leaders of Tomorrow with a comprehensive research base that would empower them with deep insight. This scheme attempts to attract the attention of students as well as non-student social workers and journalists towards issues that are otherwise neglected by the media, despite being extremely important for the society as a whole.
A total of six fellowships are granted every two years, out of which two are earmarked for journalism students and the remaining four are granted to established researchers from different sectors.
