Uttan (Thane district): With the municipal corporations expected next year, the Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) at Uttan at Bhayander in Thane district trained budding corporators on aspects like communication skills, time management and public relations.
Since its inception, RMP has trained more than 35,000 people comprising MPs, MLAs, their associated staff, panchayat office bearers, NGOs, corporate, entrepreneurs, youth.
Also present on the occasion were Dr Jayant Kulkarni, Executive Director, RMP, and Shri. Dhananjay Khadilkar, election expert.
Experts provided guidance to the budding corporators on the following topics, which would help them in their journey towards sustainable development.
The discussions started with Swanand Gangal unraveling the secret of the effective use of social media for better public relations.
Bhalchandra Shirsat guided the participants on the benefits of the pre-election survey and study of the ward, Khadilkar talked about the preliminary preparations and election process in municipalities and municipal corporations, and management of elections.
Deepak Karanjikar talked about the important aspects of communication skills and time management. Ganesh Khankar highlighted the importance of the election manifesto.
In all, 40 participants representing 13 districts, seven municipalities and 11 municipal corporations in Maharashtra, were present for the innovative workshop.
While expressing her thoughts about this workshop, Mayura Rahul Banavali from Mulund, Mumbai, said: “We learnt how to train the mind from the lecture on preliminary preparations. We almost got the Mantra to rise again despite failures, if any. We learnt how the content and photos shared on social media help in creating the right image. The lecture on the management of elections was insightful. We got guidance on surveys and increasing personal contacts.”
Nagesh Buddhe from Solapur, while mentioning the utility of such programs, said, “We learnt a lot in two days. We gained inputs from experts about the information one needs to have about the constituency. Everything was explained technically as well as in a language that all can understand.
This will help us bring knowledge into practice. We realized the importance of good listening, along with communication skills.”
Jyoti Nagesh Deshmane from Panvel, said that such workshops help groom the participants to achieve goals and RMP provides guidance in this direction. Before concluding the program, the participants got the opportunity to interact with successful corporators Prabhakar Shinde and Manjusha Nagpure.
