A ) CSW68, UN (2023-24)
In March 2024, a delegation of eleven representatives from Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) attended the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), demonstrating India’s commitment to global gender equality initiatives. The delegates enthusiastically participated in discussions concerning women’s empowerment, spotlighting India’s vibrant Nari Shakti, and actively contributed to international dialogues on women’s rights. RMP’s involvement at CSW68 underscored India’s unwavering dedication to promoting gender equality and empowering women worldwide.
B) HLPF, UN (2019-2020)
RMP was invited to participate in the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) at the UN for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UNSDG in August 2019.
C) Pluralism and Democracy: Role, Expectations & Challenges, UN HQ (2014-2015)
RMP in collaboration with Isha Foundation and Agewell organised a special programme at the UN HQ, New York, USA. This conference was on ‘Pluralism and Democracy: Role, Expectation and Challenges’. This programme was attended by 150 representatives from different countries.
D) RMP at UN (2011-2012)
Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, the then Director-General of RMP had meetings with concerned officials at the UN Headquarters in New York, USA, where he acquainted them with the work being done at RMP as an affiliate of the UN. At this time, Bala Balaguru, a social worker in New Jersey was also appointed RMP’s permanent representative at the UN. RMP also attended a group of meetings with international experts at the UN on the oppression of native women and children, as an observer.
E) Visit to the UN (2008-2009)
Dr. Vinay Sahasrabuddhe visited the UN Headquarters in New York, USA, where he held discussions with Christina Isabel Legor of Alliance of Civilisations, Programme Officer of the UN Democratic Forum, John Mary Kauzaya of the Public Administration and Development Management Department, and others. These meetings explored how RMP in its capacity as a special advisory voluntary organisation to the UN, can carry out more work in association with the UN.
F) UN NGO Conference (2007-2008)
Shri. Vikas Deshpande, an urban development expert, officially represented RMP at the DPI/NGO Conference on Climate Change, organised by the UN in 2007.
G) Visit by Ms. Hanifa Mezoui, Chief, NGO Branch, United Nations (2006-2007)
In January 2006, RMP was given the status of Special Consultative NGO by the UN. On this background, the UN Mission to India headed by Ms. Hanifa Mezoui, Chief, NGO Branch, visited RMP.
H) UNESCAP, Kumarakom, Kerala (2002-2003)
Shri. Ravindra Sathe participated in a workshop organised for training personnel jointly by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sanghatan (NYKS) and UNESCAP in Kumarakom, Kerala.
